My name is Maeve Tomblin and I am a qualified clinical hypnotherapist.

I am also a medical doctor who has worked in the NHS.

I became aware of the benefits of hypnotherapy through my work in pain management.

My interest developed as I became aware of other conditions for which hypnotherapy is useful.

I undertook a diploma course in hypnotherapy and now use it along with cognitive behaviour therapy (a type of counselling) to help with a wide range of problems.

Hypnotherapy is an effective way to change unhelpful attitudes, habits and patterns of behaviour.

It uses and strengthens your own abilities and problem solving skills.

It involves the client and therapist working together to achieve agreed goals.

It puts you in control of your problems and gives you the techniques to use to change.

CHOOSING A HYPNOTHERAPIST

To find a hypnotherapist you may want to consider the checklist below:

Is the therapist registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)?

This is the UK register of complementary therapists set up with government support.

Therapists on the register will be properly qualified and insured and undertake on-going professional training.

The CNHC also provides a complaints procedure for the public - www.cnhc.org.uk

What wider training and experience the therapist has had in providing health related care?

Does the therapist have regular supervision from another therapist trained and accredited to provide supervision?

 

 

Do you feel comfortable with the therapist?

Do you feel free to ask questions and do they explain things to you?

Location will be a consideration for you but it is important to choose the right therapist for yourself even if you have to travel further.
